North Cross Preschool is an Early Childhood program that runs September through May, Monday through Friday from 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m.

North Cross Early Childhood Program is an outreach ministry of the North Cross United Methodist Church. It was originally founded in 1988 by a North Cross task force that wanted to serve the families of the church congregation and surrounding community. The Early Childhood Program is a non-profit program dependent on all Preschool and Parent's Day Out parents for financial solvency. Members of the ECP Board volunteer their resources to direct the program.

Since North Cross Early Childhood Program is operated by a religious organization and falls under the exempt status of Subdivision 5 of Section 210.211 RSMo, it is not licensed by the Missouri Department of Health. This facility is inspected for fire, health, and sanitation requirements.

The goal of the Early Childhood Program is to create a warm, loving atmosphere in which children may play, socialize and participate in experiences which meet the developmental needs of early childhood.

A Note From the Director

Welcome to North Cross Preschool! Thank you for taking the time to consider our school! Our goals at North Cross include preparing your child for Kindergarten by concentrating on their educational needs from ages 2 to 5. We offer a quality, developmentally appropriate, hands-on program in a loving, structured environment. We strive to develop in each child positive self-esteem, curiosity, and a true joy in learning at a pace where they feel comfortable and safe! I invite you to stop by to take a closer look at our preschool.

The goal of North Cross Preschool is to provide the first step toward the development of a positive attitude toward learning. We believe in exposing children to all areas of development (social, emotional, physical and intellectual) so that they may be better prepared for their elementary school experience.

We provide children with the opportunity to learn about their environment, get along with and respect the rights of others, accept responsibility, develop a positive self-image, develop confidence in new situations, and handle emotions in acceptable ways. Children are encouraged to learn to help themselves and practice good health habits, develop large and small muscle coordination, develop language, solve problems, and express originality. North Cross Preschool is committed to development of the "total child".

Our philosophy is that each child has a unique personality and will be treated as a special individual. The small teacher/student ratio allows that personalized treatment. Our purpose is to serve families in our church and community, offering them a comfortable atmosphere for their child's growth and natural learning experiences.

North Cross Preschool offers classes for three age groups of children 2 1/2 through 5 years. Our student population, with full enrollment, is approximately 110 children. Our staff consists of 4 lead teachers, 4 teacher assistants, a music teacher, a movement teacher, and a director.

We would love for you to visit us anytime! Our little hallway down on the south end of the church is full of activity.

We offer:

  1. Missouri Pre-K Standards: We meet and exceed all MO Pre-K standards that the state has issued for children to be ready for Kindergarten.
  2. Music: Children attend music class once a week. The music teacher prepares a Christmas program and a Spring program that all children participate in.
  3. Computers: Computers are in the pre-kindergarten classrooms for the children to use.
  4. Pictures: Individual pictures are offered twice a year. Also, for the Kindergarten Prep students, we offer a cap and gown picture taken in the Spring.
  5. Field Trips: We believe that field trips and special events expand our students' horizons. We schedule field trips and special on-site events several times a year.
  6. Conferences: Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled each year. Evening conferences are available for working parents.
  7. Drop-off/Pick-up: We provide parents with a drop-off and pick-up system so you do not have to come into the school if you choose not to. If you wish to walk your child in every day, you may do so, but if you have a sleeping baby in the car, or the weather is bad you can pull up and we will escort your child to and from the car.
  8. Holiday Parties: Each holiday we celebrate with classroom parties. Parents are encouraged to come and join the fun.
  9. Movement Class: Movement is one of the most important aspects of a young child's life. We offer a movement class once a week to the pre-kindergarten classes.
  10. Christian Concepts: Our program wishes to enrich the lives of our preschoolers by offering weekly devotions and prayer time before snacks and lunch.
  11. Outdoor Play: Outdoor play is an important aspect of social development. We have a fenced play area with age-appropriate equipment for the children.
